What Are Short Run Digitally Printed Coasters?
Digital printing is a fast, flexible alternative to traditional offset coaster printing. Rather than requiring plates and lengthy setup, digital printing allows us to go from your artwork to a finished product in a fraction of the time.
- Short print runs — no need to commit to thousands of units
- Quick turnaround projects — perfect for last-minute events or promotions
- Multiple designs — easily print different versions in small quantities
- Proofing and testing — trial a design before committing to a larger offset run
Do digitally printed coasters look different to offset?
One thing worth noting is that short run digitally printed coasters have a slightly different sheen compared to their offset-printed counterparts. Rather than being a drawback, many of our customers find this gives their coasters a clean, modern finish that stands out on the table. It’s a subtle difference, but one that adds a contemporary feel to your branding.
How should I set up artwork for digitally printed coasters?
Because our beer coasters are designed to be absorbent — that’s their job, after all — we recommend keeping a few things in mind when preparing your artwork:
- Lower ink coverage works best. Designs with lighter coverage allow the coaster to maintain its full absorbency. Think clean logos, simple text, and designs that make use of the natural coaster board.
- Avoid heavy, solid ink floods. Large areas of heavy ink coverage can reduce the coaster's ability to absorb moisture, which affects performance.
- Talk to us about your artwork. Our team is always happy to review your design and offer suggestions to make sure you get the best possible result. A quick phone call can save time and ensure your coasters both look great and perform as they should.

Not for square coasters. 1,000 square coasters cost $150 + GST single sided, the same price as 500. Round coasters at 1,000 cost $195 + GST single sided. Double sided runs of 1,000 are $375 + GST for square or $390 + GST for round, both on 390gsm board.
The minimum is 500 coasters, and it applies to every order, including weddings and one-off events. Digital short runs come in two quantities, 500 and 1,000, and both are dispatched within 48 hours. If you only need a few hundred, 500 is the smallest run we print.
Runs above 1,000 move to offset printing. Offset runs of up to 2,000 are still dispatched within 48 hours, and larger runs within 5 to 7 working days. The price per coaster drops as the quantity grows, so it’s worth getting a quote at both quantities before you decide.
Single sided short runs are priced on 365gsm beer coaster board. Double sided runs of 1,000 use the heavier 390gsm board. Both are proper absorbent coaster stock, so keep heavy solid ink to a minimum and the coaster will keep soaking up drips the way it should.
They’re well suited to it. A run of 500 lets you see a design on real tables before committing to a large offset run. At $150 + GST single sided, you can check how it reads, how it holds up and how customers react, then order in volume once you’re happy.
